EIGHT x EIGHT: Our Story

EIGHT X EIGHT (pronounced 'Eight by Eight) started with a love of shopping, a little bit of courage, and what honestly felt like a pipe dream.

Although if you ask my friends, it probably started much earlier than that.

Growing up, my closet was always the closet my friends shopped from β€” through grade school, middle school, high school, college, and well beyond. I loved putting outfits together, sharing my latest finds, and helping the people around me find something they felt good in. Looking back now, it feels a little like EIGHT X EIGHT was always there β€” it just took me a while to realize it.

As a lifelong, self-proclaimed shopaholic, I’ve always loved the way the right outfit can change how you feel. Not because clothes are everything, but because there’s something about putting on something you love and immediately feeling a little more confident, comfortable, and like yourself.

In 2022, EIGHT X EIGHT officially began online and through local pop-ups, with the hope that maybe one day it would become something more. That β€œsomething more” came sooner than expected when I opened our first little storefront in East Aurora, NY. Since then, we’ve grown into a larger home on Main Street and, more importantly, into a community I never could have imagined when I started.

My approach to EIGHT X EIGHT has always been simple: thoughtfully choose pieces that feel classic, effortless, and wearable β€” things you’ll actually reach for again and again. But just as important as what’s on the racks is how you feel when you walk through our doors.

I wanted to create the kind of shop where you can come exactly as you are. Where you can browse without pressure, ask for an honest opinion, laugh in the fitting room, find something you feel amazing in, pick up the perfect gift, or simply enjoy a little retail therapy.

Over the years, EIGHT X EIGHT has become so much more than a boutique to me. It has become a place for connection, collaboration, giving back, and supporting the community that has supported this little business from the very beginning.

And then there’s the name.

EIGHT X EIGHT holds a story of its own β€” one rooted in love, loss, family, and a few little coincidences along the way that have felt a lot more like signs. The number eight has carried meaning throughout my life, and as this business has grown, that meaning has only become more special.

Maybe that’s part of what EIGHT X EIGHT has taught me: sometimes the smallest moments end up meaning the most.

As my angel always said, β€œlittle moments, big magic.”
